This was the most kind, considerate family; they were so welcoming the moment I stepped through their front door. You know how there are some people you click with almost instantly? This was Reed and Jordan. Their joy and energy was so infectious and mama's smile just lit up the room (the camera absolutely loves her!) It was so lovely getting to meet and capture this special season for them last summer.
Also, can we talk about this gorgeous nursery?! It was absolutely stunning, the vintage inspired airplane wallpaper made me giddy and I was like a kid in a candy store capturing all the sweet details. Jordan did an incredible job on all the touches that incorporated their military background and Reed's love of aviation. Living in a town near an air force base I have photographed many military families so it's not lost on me how special it is to be a part of these first moments, especially when they might not have family nearby. The window light in their nursery was also perfect as the morning light streamed directly in the room and it was so light and bright. I love when it all comes together!
Baby Theodore was 4 weeks old when we photographed his newborn portraits and he did so well! A month old is a little older than most newborn photographers recommend but in my opinion, any age is great to photograph newborns, since they grow so quickly that first month. 4-6 weeks can be a little trickier to get those sleepy photos but it's definitely not impossible. Just takes patience and time, which I have in abundance!
Theo was a bit unsettled at the beginning (bet you'd never guess that by looking at all the beautiful photos we captured!) We took our time and I encouraged his parents that it was totally okay, it also gave me the extra opportunity to capture those in-between moments that are so sweet and can't really be posed! He did eventually fall asleep and the rest is history. :)
Thank you for your service Reed, and for trusting me to photograph your first photos as a family of three (four when you count Max the german shepherd!)
