Baby Shaw was such a sweetheart for his newborn session this past fall and he was so cute too, I could have photographed him all day! He loved snuggling with his mom and dad, which are always some of my favorite images. It never gets old watching families grow and I love being a small part of documenting such a special time in life for all of you. I have had the honor of photographing this sweet family several times over the years, so it was especially fun to watch Sloane step in her new role as a big sister!
We began Shaw's newborn session by photographing them as a family in their main bedroom, this room had the best morning light shining in through the windows and it provided the most perfect neutral backdrop for their first official photos as a family of four.
Their bedroom had beautiful white walls and crisp white bedding which photographs so well. Mama also did an amazing job planning their outfits! The soft and neutral color palette went so well together and kept them the focus. Simplicity is key when it comes to classic and timeless newborn photos (in my opinion)!
To start, I always like to photograph the family all together for some "traditional" look at the camera photos and of course, some more candid and interactive photos (my fav!) Once the family portion of the session is mostly wrapped up, I try to capture a few sibling images if they want to interact with baby. This can be tricky sometimes, but we can take our time! After we photographed Sloane with her new baby brother we captured some precious images of mama and dad with their baby boy, as well as individually with baby. Some of my favorite images are of mom and dad cuddling their baby alone, they are always the sweetest!
To finish up the session we then took some super precious father/daughter photos in Sloane's room while mama fed baby, I love how these show a little more real life. To finish up the session, we captured some adorable photos of Shaw in his crib as well as some family photos in his nursery. I love all the little unplanned, candid moments that unfold during a session, so documenting Sloane reading her favorite books while mama looked on cuddling baby brother was the icing on the cake! I think their session turned out so beautiful I couldn't wait to share these with all of you! I think they are all pretty smitten with their baby boy. Welcome to the world, Shaw!
