It was an honor to capture these gorgeous new parents with their baby girl, Slayde, at their home when she was so tiny and new! I am so honored to have been given the opportunity to capture so many milestones over her first year, it was so much fun to watch her grow.
We were blessed with some beautiful sun the day these were taken, which always makes me happy! The white and neutral walls of their home helped to reflect the light around and made for the perfect backdrop for their first portraits as a new family of three.
For capturing newborn photos, I recommend taking them during baby's first two weeks of life since they are still in that sleepy stage and you have gotten a chance to recover some after delivery. I do let my clients decide when they are more comfortable and I have photographed older newborns as well, up to a month or two old--you just have to be aware they are more alert the closer you get to 4 weeks old (and sometimes baby acne likes to pop up), but it's doable! Every stage deserves to captured in a beautiful way.
Baby Slayde gave me so many sweet expressions throughout our session! She was awake for part of the beginning, then slept through the whole thing, only to wake up towards the end for some adorable awake shots. I love it when I can get images of newborns with great eye contact! Thank you for welcoming me into your home, Westbrook family!
