Vivian Yoko | Lifestyle Newborn Session in the Studio

I had the pleasure of photographing this precious family before baby Vivian's arrival at their maternity session and it was a dream (you can see it here), so I knew their newborn session wouldn't disappoint! Vivian barely made a peep for her newborn session and we captured so many precious images I know they will cherish for a lifetime. We captured these images at my natural light studio located at my home on a gorgeous summer day and the light was on point, no wonder it's my favorite room in the house! ;) So many newborns I photographed last year had so much hair and Vivian was one of them, her dark hair was so beautiful. I had the best time photographing her with her adorable family!

Some of my very favorite images from this session are the ones where Vivian is being held in her parents' arms, they turned out so precious and heart melting! For the majority of my newborn sessions I love to photograph baby mainly in mom's or dad's arms so you will always be able to see and remember how tiny they once were. To me, hands tell such a story in photographs since they hold all the memories you have made through the years, they are etched into each line, scar and wrinkle. Not only do hands tell a story, but they portray so much love and connection through the images. I love when mom or dad hold their little one's tiny fingers or gently caress their fuzzy, soft cheek; there is nothing more precious and I hope it transports you right back to that moment when we captured it!

I'm sure these two sisters will have a lot of fun growing up together! I know most siblings are still getting used to their new sister or brother, so it's okay if they don't seem super interested at first during the session (sometimes they need a chance to warm up and that's fine!) Sometimes older siblings love giving their new brother or sister some love and sometimes they would rather go off and play, and there is nothing wrong with that! That is why I typically try to get the sibling photos at the beginning since they can go and play while we capture some individual photos of baby and one on one photos with mom and dad.

No matter how the session unfolds I always manage to capture the love and joy of adding a new addition, even with the chaos and imperfections of having little ones. That is the beauty of family photography! I loved getting the chance to meet this sweet family again and capture their first photos as a family of four. Welcome to the world, baby Vivian!
